Behind the Build: Designing the M18™ Precision Blower Insert

Behind the Build: Designing the M18™ Precision Blower Insert

Welcome back to Inside the Lab, the behind-the-scenes look at how our design team at Code Breaker Labs turns ideas into job-ready Milwaukee PACKOUT™ inserts.

Today we’re breaking down the development of the Milwaukee M18 Precision Blower Insert — a brand-new addition built specifically for the PACKOUT™ Compact Organiser. This one delivers smarter accessory management, flexible battery support, and a workflow that feels natural the moment you open the lid.

Design Philosophy

Built for tradies who don’t muck around

The Precision Blower is a deceptively simple tool — until you see how many attachments and accessories come with it. Our job was to turn all of that into a clean, organised layout that makes sense day-to-day. Every decision was made around practical use, not aesthetics. If it didn’t speed up real-world workflow, it didn’t make the cut.

Battery Flexibility

Space for everything up to the M18™ 6.0Ah FORGE

One of the early design goals was battery freedom. Every tradie runs a different setup — some prefer compact M18 packs, others step up to the 6.0Ah FORGE. So instead of designing around one option, we created a universal battery bay that fits the full range comfortably.

This keeps your setup flexible and ensures the insert works for your gear — not the other way around. No tight squeeze, no wobble, no awkward angles. Just a clean, functional fit.

Stacked Nozzle Storage

Solving the “where do these go” problem properly

Layered nozzle system: large nozzle tucked neatly under the carrier.

The blower’s nozzles were the biggest challenge in this design. They’re bulky, they’re odd-shaped, and they shouldn’t be rattling around loose inside your organiser. The solution was a stacked storage layout:

  • The largest nozzle is stored underneath
  • The nozzle carrier sits directly above it
  • Dedicated pockets for the two smaller precision nozzles

The result is a compact, layered structure that uses every millimetre of space without creating clutter.

Secure Tool Fitment

A balanced layout that feels natural

The blower sits in a contoured cavity that supports the head, handle and base. The scoop around the handle makes pickup easy — even if you’re wearing gloves. Everything sits tight without forcing the tool into place.

We also included a storage indicator pocket beside the head so users immediately see how the tool slots in. It’s all about speed and instinctive placement.

No Hook Compatibility — For a Reason

Some inserts include hook storage, but in this case, it didn’t make sense. The M18 Precision Blower is simply too large to support a hook without compromising usability or tool fitment. Instead of forcing a feature that would reduce quality, we prioritised function and ergonomics.

The end result is an insert that feels balanced, clean, and practical — no wasted space, no forced compromises.

Designed, Tested & Made in Australia

Every line, curve and pocket on this insert was tested and refined by real tradies. It’s made from high-heat, job-site-ready materials and built to handle the same conditions your tools face every day.

Proudly designed, tested, and produced here in Australia by Code Breaker Labs.

Built with purpose. Built to last.
